Good garden design harmonizes the wants and needs of people with the habitat needs of wildlife.

My design practice operates on two tracks that run parallel to each other:

Primarily, I want all of my gardens to be deeply personal, to speak to people on an emotional level.  To that end, I spend a lot of time getting to know my clients and engaging in a shared creative process that addresses their functional and aesthetic needs.

On the other track are the environmental constraints of the site and the needs of the animals that visit our gardens for food, shelter and to raise their young.  As we are working to address the human needs of the space, we will also be talking about what our ecological goals are and how they can be addressed by a garden.  

The resulting landscapes are beautiful, functional and provide a refuge for urban wildlife!
